Cross Country Season

The cross country season for Concord High has come (and almost gone) way too quickly!  They only had three regular league meets this season, the DVAL championships, and then NCS (coming in a few weeks).
Parker had a great season.  The first meet was at Newhall Park.  He was a little nervous.
No need!  He finished 2nd overall with a time of 16:18, beating his personal best by 40 seconds!

The 2nd league meet was at Castle Rock.  Parker ended up getting a major headache about 20 minutes before he had to run.  (It was weird because he hardly ever gets headaches!)  Coach said, "no running", so he was out for this race, and very bummed!
The 3rd league meet was back at Newhall.  Here he is with the Varsity Team.
He ended up finishing 9th overall with a time of 16:14.
Last Saturday was the DVAL championship meet at Castle Rock.  Here is Parker and Tyler as we were arriving.  Like all the green and yellow flags in the background?  Go Concord!
(Yes, it is Cross Country, but they are sporting Concord Volleyball sweatshirts!)
The day started off with Frosh/Soph Girls, then Frosh/Soph Boys.  Next was JV Girls, and JV Boys.  Finally it was Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys.
Coach Cardenas giving the boys a pep talk before running.

The start is always crazy!  There were about 50 boys running.
Here is Parker his first time around and up the hill.  The 2nd time around there was a loose dog running around back and forth around the runners. Not good!
Here is Parker (and the other Parker from CP ... they always end up close to each other!)
Here is the exciting finish!  He was in 9th coming into the final stretch and ended up passing two runners to make it to that important 7th spot for 1st team all-league! (You may want to turn down the volume so you don't have to hear me yelling!)
 Congratulations Parker!!
Here we are at the awards.
Here is Parker being announced for 1st team all-league.  Watch his fellow teammates cheer him on.  They are so supportive of him!

Congratulations Parker on a successful season!  Good luck at NCS!
