Mission Shopping

School is out so Parker and I headed out for some mission shopping last week.  It was pretty good timing since it was just before Father's Day, so we got some pretty good deals! We got a lot accomplished today, but there is still quite a bit to buy!

Gladiator Rock'n Run

A group of co-workers from Kaiser got together last Saturday to participate in the Gladiator Rock'n Run Race down in San Jose.  The kids and I drove down to watch.
All smiles before it starts!
At the start line.
A "peace out" from Travis.
This was the start of the 6K race.  They had to climb over this rope wall.  Then, they were off into the hills and the kids and I found a shady spot and waited ...
Finally, they showed up again a long time later! They had to complete it as a team, so Travis had to wait for everyone. (He might have been a little frustrated, but he waited).  Here they are moving a log around in a circle.
Then, they had to go across the monkey bars.  (Right after I took this picture, they guy in the light blue shirt dislocated his shoulder ... UGH!)
Then they had to crawl under barbed wire in the mud.

He didn't get too dirty!
Then, they had to climb this wall.
It was so slippery!  They had a tough time getting over it.
Their last challenge was two of these massive inflatables!
They had to work together to help each other up and over!
Then, they tiredly walked to the finish line!
Travis was wanting to run but they had to finish together.
Congratulations to team Kaiser!
(The kids and I were in a hurry to leave to get to some graduation parties and 40 minutes down the road Trav called to say his keys were in my bag.  Noooo!  I had to turn around and drive back (through the winding roads) to give them to him.  A memory for sure!)

We have a graduate!

Somehow, Parker has grown up and we have a graduate!  He graduated on Wednesday night.
After a morning of pouring rain ... in June ... in the middle of an historic drought ... the rain stopped and we headed off to the Concord Pavilion for Graduation.
Grandma helped him decorate his grad cap.  I guess that's a thing now.  We didn't do that when I was in High School.
It turned out great!  The Flash ... Parker Burr.

Parker's awards and honors listed in the program.
  More awards.
Here he is with some friends before the ceremony started.
(Can't remember his name), Trever, Parker, Spencer, Zach, Nathan
I have to admit the decorated caps make it much easier to find your child during the ceremony!
Parker and some other senior (Courtney, Lisa, Nathan) doing sign language to the song, "The Best Day of My Life" for the Graduation Ceremony.
 Congratulations to Parker Burr!!
 Proud parents.
 Proud Family!
 Victoria and Parker
 Uncle Drew and Aunt Tina
(Did you notice Parker's awesome money lei that Aunt Tina made him?)
 The Rossi Family
Nathan, Zach, Trever and Parker
 Brittany, Parker, Courtney
Carpool buddies and church friends for a long time!
 Brandt and Parker
Cyrius and Parker
After graduation the graduates (and me) headed off to Grad Night at Center Concord. It was a fun-filled night with amazing decorations!  I was in charge of the food for the evening and took the day off work to buy and prepare the food.  I'm glad I was able to be a part of this special night (even if I had to go to the last day of school the next day on no sleep.)  They ate, had karaoke, danced, bowled, played games, got massages, etc. They had a fun time and partied until 4:00 am.  Then Parker had to stay and help me clean up until almost 5:00 am!
Parker and Trever - best friends since they were babies!
I'm going to miss them when they are gone.
Parker's airbrush shirt that they made that night.
Can't believe that he's done with school and headed on a mission in a few short months!

Seminary Graduation

Tonight was Seminary Graduation. Parker gave a talk tonight and did a nice job talking about how Seminary has helped him in his life.

Love these kids and am so proud of them!

Conner the accountant

For Conner's English class he did a written report on Accounting and then had to make a presentation in class.  He decided to dress up for extra credit!

His presentation went well (he got an A) and he got a lot of compliments on his style!

Choir Awards Banquet

Tuesday night was the Choir Award's Banquet for CHS.  It's held at Center Concord and they have a big pot luck dinner and then pass out awards and watch a slide show.
The Junior students create awards for the Seniors.  Parker's friend Brandt did Parker's award (and about 3 more seniors too).  He had such nice things to say about Parker and made me cry while he was talking about him. When he came back to his seat, I told him thank you for the kind words about Parker and he said, "What did I ever do to deserve a friend like Parker?"
Brandt and Parker
He gave him the 2015 Altruism Award (with wheat thins in it of course)!
Later in the evening Mr. Emigh was giving out awards and I was paying attention but not thinking that Parker or Conner would get anything (since it was Conner's first year and Parker has only been in choir for two years).  Again, Mr. Emigh had some wonderful things to say about Parker and about how much he's going to miss him and how he makes the choir a better place every time he's there.  He gave him the "Most Inspirational Award."  What an honor!
These guys are going to miss each other!
 Cryius, Brandt, Parker, Spencer, Trever
Parker and his Show Choir Partner Christina.
She got Most Valuable!
Victoria got the "Center Stage" award for Show Choir!
Congratulations everyone on a fun year!

Show Choir for Conner

Conner came home from school on Monday with lip stick marks on his cheek ...
He said not to worry,
he had just made SHOW CHOIR!
They gave him (along with a kiss on the cheek) deodorant, mints, a shoe shine kit, and some hand sanitizer.  He was pretty excited to have made it!  Here we go again ...
