All-Star!

Although Conner's team had a less than stellar year, Conner played great and was picked to play on the 11-year-old All-Star team. He was very excited! That means we have 3-4 very busy weeks of baseball ahead of us!Conner is 2nd from the left. (#11)

Above is the full 11 year-old All-Star Team! Good luck guys!

2011 Major Braves

Conner had his team party on Saturday at Fuddruckers. We were able to make another DVD for the season and had fun doing it (although there are always technical difficulties and this year was no different!)They had some nice things to say about Conner at the party. They talked about how versatile he is. He was their utility player and would play wherever he was asked without complaining. They said he was very polite and respectful too. This season he played short stop, 2nd base, left field, pitcher, and catcher. His favorite position is catcher. They also talked about how they really hoped he is going to come back next year. Guess we had them worried.
Don't worry ... he'll be back!
Great job this season Conner!

Parker's 8th Grade Graduation

After Conner's graduation ceremony, we rushed over to Sequoia for Parker's 8th Grade Graduation. We found Parker waiting with his friends and grabbed a quick picture.

Smile!
Parker's class as they filed in. He was in the front row between two friends.
(Who both happen to be taller than Travis! He looks kind of small.)
Waiting for everyone to come in.

Parker received the Math award for all of the 8th graders.

Here he is graduating.

Congratulations Parker!!!

Conner's 5th Grade Graduation

On Thursday, June 9th, Conner had his promotion ceremony for Elementary School. He was excited that day, and a little nervous too.

Here he is as the classes file in. (He's in the green and blue striped shirt).

Getting his certificate from his teacher, Mrs. Fischer.

Congratulations Conner!

We're so proud of you!

We had to rush off to Parker's Graduation ceremony at Sequoia, so Aunt Tina stayed around to celebrate with him.

3rd Grade Field Day

Calissa had her 3rd grade field day on Wednesday and I got to go and help out. I spent a lot of my time chatting with other moms and teachers instead of helping, but I did help a little! The kids were in stations and rotated every few minutes. I was at the balance board station. It was hard! Calissa balancing on her board.
The entire 3rd grade.
Calissa is on the bottom left.
(Click on it for a larger view)
(Yes, she is the only one not doing what she's supposed to be doing).

Crazy 3rd graders!

We'll miss 3rd grade. She had a wonderful teacher and she was still in the lower grades. She'll be in 4th grade next year! It's going by way too fast!

Calissa's Song Flute Concert

In 3rd grade, the kids have the opportunity to play the song flute. We've made it through all three kids playing the song flute and they've all enjoyed it. Calissa had her song flute concert on Tuesday afternoon and she did a great job. She was supposed to be in the front row, but there ended up being too many kids so she was behind some taller boys.

One Great Librarian

I've been the Library Coordinator in the school library for the past four years. During that time (and before) I had the wonderful opportunity to work with a great library, Mrs. McDermont! I loved working in the library and especially working with her. She decided to retire at the end of this year and I put together a little party for us to celebrate (or mourn) her retirement. We had about 50-60 people show up to help us celebrate.

We had yummy food, fun conversation, and gifts.
Smile Calissa!

We're really going to miss her, but are excited for her journeys ahead!

Ten Hour Project!

(Parker Talking) Right before memorial day weekend, we were assigned a project in Science. The objective was to build a house and electrically wire it. So me and my friends planned to work on the project on Tuesday. (Because we didn't have school) Our plan was for them to come for 4 hours and completely get the project done. Little did we know how long this project would really take. So they came on Tuesday to my house for 4 hours. We were at about 3 and a half hours and realized that there was NO way we were getting it done that day. So the plan was for them to come over after school for another 2 hours and finish it. Guess what? We still didn't finish it. Clearly we needed more time to put the last wires and draw a diagram. So on Friday they came over after school and we FINALLY finished. So 3 meetings and 10 hours later we had a house built with lights, a staircase, a fan, and a garage. Here are the final results. This is the bathroom with a fan inside. Oh yeah, by the way, we had to use all of Calissa's Polly Pocket stuff for the inside of our house. So its very colorful.

Here is the kitchen downstairs.
My creation: The Garage.
Our wallpaper really doesn't match but it's colorful!

Our whole house put together. You like the wallpaper?

One last view. All the lights work so we are all set to turn this project in. Thanks Eric Nakanishi, Ben Lugten, and Trever Rivera for being in my group for the project!

Finished!

State Float

Conner is in 5th grade and that is the year for state reports. Conner did a great job writing and researching about the great state of Utah! While chatting with a friend about what they needed to do (written report, poster and oral report) she told me that her son also had to do a state float. I said, "Oh ... so glad WE don't have to do one of those!" Fast forward several weeks and we get a paper home telling us about the "State Float." We had a couple of short weeks to work on it, and here is the finished project.Utah - The Beehive State. Salt Lake City is the capital. BYU is in Provo and the Sego Lily is the state flower. Notice how the back is in the shape of Utah?
Coal is the state rock (we painted rocks black ... I still don't think the paint dried all the way). Cherry is the state fruit and Jimmer Fredette is a college basketball sensation!

Utah eats the most Jello of any other state and the state bird is the Seagull. (Notice the seagulls flying around the bottom edge of his float?)

Friday at school they had a float parade and the classes lined up outside of their rooms while the 5th graders walked their floats around. Some of them bit the dust on the bumpy ground, but Conner's held up pretty good! Great job Conner!

Watch where you're going Conner!

Last Elementary School project complete for Conner!

(At least I hope it's the last!)
