Universal Orlando

We got off the ship, went through customs and then boarded the bus to head back to the airport.  Unfortunately, I may have told the driver the wrong place we were getting off the bus.  Oops!  So, they put our bags in a specific section under the bus based on where I said we were getting off.  Once we got to the airport, the driver only allowed Travis off the bus, so he could make sure that he got off all of our luggage.  Yes, we did give him a nice tip!

After arriving at the airport and meeting our next driver, we checked into our hotel and headed midday to Universal Orlando.

The whole group!
Photobucket
First order of business was to rent a stroller.  Drew asked if they had any specials for multiple days.  They told him it would be cheaper for him to by a stroller at Walmart!
Photobucket
Here is the Rockin Roller Coaster.  Yes, it goes straight up!  Trav, Drew, Parker and I went on it.  It was fun and we tried to go on it again another day, but it was closed down.
Photobucket
Taking a break.
Photobucket
We went on the Despicable Me ride ...
Photobucket

Photobucket
and became minions!

Photobucket
We felt almost guilty being at Universal with the superheroes, Dora, Despicable Me, etc. since we had just been with Disney.

Photobucket
We stayed until dark and then headed back to the Hotel.
Photobucket
Christopher and Lindsay fell asleep on the walk back.

We did not have a good experience at the hotel.  After being on the brand new Disney Fantasy, we felt like we came crashing down to earth staying at the Doubletree Hilton.  Our room was not clean (had those plastic clothes tags all over the floor, clothing stickers on the window, every time the air cycled on dust would blow out, we had a hole in the bedspread, bathroom clothesline was broken, etc.) and then I took my shoes off and realized the carpet was wet outside the bathroom.  I told the person who came up to bring me a blanket about my concerns and they didn't seem to worry.  They just brought me some towels to put on the floor to soak up the water.  THEN, (if that's not enough) we had awful neighbors who were loud, foul mouthed, and drunk from about 11:45 pm - 6 am.  We called down to the front desk twice during the night and security came up three times, but they were never asked to leave.  It was an awful night of sleep and I was so upset the next morning that I went to the front desk and complained.  Yes, my heart was beating super fast because that is not something I like to do, but I was so upset and sleep deprived that I did it!  They apologized profusely and told us it there policy that the people are asked to leave on the 2nd trip up.  They gave us a refund for that night and had a thorough cleaning done of our room.  Things were much better when we got back that night, but still would not stay there again.

That day we left early so we could get some breakfast and then get to Harry Potter land before it got too busy.
Photobucket
Calissa and Grandma stopped to catch a wave on our way there.
Photobucket
There were decorating for Christmas as we walked through the park.
Photobucket
We found Harry Potter land!  We waited in line for about an hour to ride the Harry Potter ride.  It was neat to go through the castle (school, Hogwarts?) as we were waiting.  (Can you tell I don't know much about Harry Potter?)  The kids liked it.  They had a really fast dragon roller coaster that we loved there as well.  There were also lines to get into the stores!  (Like an hour long line!)  It was pretty crazy, but it was very well done!  We also ran into some friends from Concord that we've known for years there.  How crazy is that?

Photobucket
Tina was great and spent time with Lindsay, Christopher, Calissa, and Conner while the rest of us went on some of the bigger rides.

Photobucket
That night before we left the park, Drew talked Parker into going on Rip Saw Falls (he didn't have to work very hard to convince him)>
Photobucket
It was getting pretty chilly and Parker didn't have a jacket, but they loved it so much they went twice!
Photobucket
They were crazy and Parker shivered the whole way home!
Photobucket
Our last day, we went to both parks and hit our favorites from the past two days.
Photobucket
Travis and Parker rode Hulk again.  (I passed ... once was enough)
Photobucket
Calissa set off bombs.
Photobucket
We got chased by dinosaurs!
Photobucket

Photobucket
Calissa really wanted her picture taken under this sign.  It really sums up our trip!  We had a wonderful time and would love to go back soon!
Photobucket

Photobucket
It was a great 11 days, with 11 people!

Day 7 - Castaway Cay!

Our last full day on the cruise and we were at Castaway Cay ... Disney's private island.  It was a beautiful day!
Photobucket

Photobucket
We got off the ship as soon as we could and headed down to the beach.
Photobucket

Photobucket
Travis and Parker started the day running the Castaway Cay 5K on the island.
Photobucket
About 40 or so people ran.
Photobucket
Parker came in first!
Photobucket

Photobucket
Travis came in 6th (after running an extra .3 miles).
Photobucket

Photobucket
Congratulations guys!  They said it was way too hot and humid!
Photobucket
After the race was over, we headed for the water for some swimming.
Photobucket
All of a sudden there was a huge school of fish that swam through.  They were jumping out of the water and one even jumped into Parker's hand!
Photobucket
It was pretty crazy!  They came through several times that morning.
Photobucket
Conner enjoying the warm sand and warm water!
Photobucket
One, two, three ...
Photobucket
into the water you go!
Photobucket
Conner couldn't throw Parker, so Travis came over to help.
Photobucket
Later that day a sting ray swam right through as well.  I think it's funny that there are people snorkeling and the stingray is right behind them.
Photobucket
The boys played football.
Photobucket
I relaxed in the sun.
Photobucket
Since our last visit to Castaway Cay, they build a couple of water slides called Pelican Plunge.  We had to try them out.
Photobucket
They were really fast!  Here is Calissa coming out into the ocean.
Photobucket
Parker
Photobucket
Waiting for our turn.
Photobucket

Photobucket
We survived the plunge!
(Isn't the water beautiful?)

Trav throwing Calissa into the water. Do you think she liked it?
Photobucket
My dad enjoyed reading his book in the shade.
Photobucket
My parents decided to try out snorkeling for the first time.  I went over to help them get their gear on and help get them into the water.
Photobucket
My mom liked it, but my dad wasn't so sure about it.  I was proud of them for trying something new!
Photobucket
Relaxing on the beach!
Photobucket
Conner and Christopher making sand angels.
Photobucket
Calissa is getting ready to take the tube out for a float!
Photobucket

Photobucket
The boys found a ping pong table in the Games Pavilion on the island.
Photobucket
Travis found a pool table.  We love Castaway Cay!  It is always one of the highlights of our trip!
Photobucket
Calissa and I headed back a little early because she had an appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on board the ship.
Photobucket
She got her hair, makeup and nails done.  She was really excited!
Photobucket
Getting the royal treatment!
Photobucket
Doesn't she look beautiful?
Photobucket
She loved the attention that she received the rest of that day (and several more since her hair stayed good for another couple of days).
Photobucket
Here is our room host with Calissa our last night on board the ship.  She was always so friendly and made us feel extra special each time she saw us.

Our show for the evening was "An Unforgettable Journey" and featured the magic and illusion of Jason Bishop.  We had been to his small show the night before and were impressed, but he was AMAZING this night! He did an incredible trick with playing cards to end the show that blew us all away.  Wonder if there is a YouTube video of it somewhere.  Really ... it was amazing!  I don't know what happens to me on these cruises, but I have such an amazing time that I always cry at the last show.  They always talk about the wonderful memories made and the time spent with family and I just lose it.  Just need to enjoy every moment I guess and hope we can do it again soon!
Photobucket
On our way to dinner Calissa ran into Sleeping Beauty.
Photobucket
She was so nice to spend a few minutes chatting with Calissa!
Photobucket

Photobucket
A couple of close-ups of her beautiful hair.
Photobucket
Her pillowcase was covered in glitter the next morning!
Photobucket
The boys being silly about something at the beginning of dinner.  We were so sad that it was our last day.
Photobucket
Here are our wonderful servers (and Lindsay)!  They were terrific and followed us from restaurant to restaurant.  We were the only table that they had!
Photobucket
A picture of the stairs.  We climbed TONS of stairs on our trip.  Since we were on the 10th floor, we got our fair share of exercise!
