Cross Country Season

The boys each had a great cross country season.  Conner's got harder because of injuries, but he did such a great job.  He made Varsity as a Freshman, and ran 3 races (2 invitational and 1 regular season) as a Varsity runner, and then 3 (2 regular season & DVAL) as a Frosh/Soph runner.
Newhall Race - 3 miles in 20:48 (6:56 pace)
Hidden Valley - 2 miles  in 12:29 (6:14 pace)
Castle Rock - 2.25 miles in 14:18 (6:29 pace)

 Goofing off during warm ups!
Go Concord Go!
We hosted three pasta feeds at our house this season.  The kids seemed to have a great time and our backyard came in really handy again!
For some reason these boys enjoy sitting at the little kids table.
Playing bonding games!
A few pictures of Calissa that I took during the season.
  Pretty girl!
Parker had an amazing senior season.

He finished first in all regular season races this season.
Newhall - 3 miles in 16:39 (5:33 pace)
Hidden Valley - 3 miles 16:32 (5:31 pace)
Castle Rock - 3.25 miles in 18:09 (5:38 pace)
Castle Rock was were DVAL's were held last year.  He came in 7th last year with a time of 18:43 and the winner last year had 18:17, so he's quite a bit faster than last year.
A rare smile on the course!
I seem to have quite a few pictures of Parker yawning before a race.  Whatever works, I guess?

The Varsity squad (minus one) at Castle Rock
I was cheap this year and didn't order individual pictures.  Instead we did a buddy picture!  Love these boys!
The seniors (minus Biviana) at the pasta feed right before DVAL's.  (We didn't host this one because I had somewhere else to be that night).  The kids got t-shirts with their names and animals nicknames on them.  Thanks Coach!

A few miscellaneous pictures

I have a few random pictures, but wanted to post these so this is a miscellaneous post!
Here's a great picture of the kids at the temple for Stake Conference.
Somehow they are growing up too fast!
Here is Parker's awesome Senior Picture.  We only order 3 because they are SO DANG EXPENSIVE!
Sorry family and friends, you'll be getting other pictures in the Spring of Parker with his graduation announcements.
And finally, here's a picture of the beautiful sky while we watched Calissa's soccer game.
I love living in the Bay Area!
(Random ... I know!)

Quick Trip to Pismo

When I heard at the beginning of the school year that we had a Friday holiday the middle of October, I immediately talked to Trav about booking a trip to Pismo to see "Scary Poppins" at the Melodrama.  We took off on Friday after school (actually Conner skipped 6th period) and got down there about 6:30 that night.
After checking in, Calissa wanted to swim.  So, we went down to the pool. She swam while everyone else got in the hot tub (except me, who forgot my swimming suit)!
Both days we were there were absolutely perfect!  Gorgeous weather with no fog made for perfect conditions.  Friday morning Trav and I got up early and went on a run/walk on the beach.
 Isn't it beautiful?
I love watching for seal lions in the waves and also the surfers.
This trip we saw a bunch of sea lions and dolphins.  It was amazing to watch them while we ate breakfast on the terrace.
After breakfast we went to Shell Beach a couple of miles down the road to look at the tide pools.  They were pretty empty, but we did walk down the beach to explore.  We came across a "shell beach."
The boys (and Travis) tried to throw rocks and get them to stay on the rock in the ocean.
 Calissa looked for shells.
She found some great ones!
She also found a cool "heart rock."

After an adventure leaving there (climbing down the side of the cliffs ... or going through private property), we headed downtown for lunch at our favorite place, ice cream, and some shopping.  We went back to the hotel to swim and relax and then went to dinner and to the Melodrama.

They were celebrating their 40th anniversary that night which made it that much more special of an evening (and a little more crazy of an evening too)!  Scary Poppins was pretty funny and the vaudeville was entertaining too!

Saturday we walked on the beach, had breakfast, did a little swimming and packed up to go home. We had stake conference that weekend and Travis needed to be back for a leadership meeting.  We love our little get-a-ways and feel blessing that we get to go and spend time making memories together as a family.

Freshman Track Meet

Last Wednesday Conner participated in the Freshman Track Meet at CHS.  They have one each year and each PE class competes against the others to win a week off of running.  I helped out this year and got to be the timer for lane 5.
There were 12 boys that ran in the 800 meter.
Here they are as they were starting.
Conner was towards the back after the first lap, but quickly passed people the 2nd lap, finishing 3rd overall.  If he'd had another lap, he would have probably come in first. He did a great job!  We were very proud of him. He's definitely a distance runner ... he said it was too short of a distance for him!
