Cross Country

Cross Country has started, but this kid is injured!  Hoping he gets better fast so he can start running again soon!
Today was the first meet at Newhall. I was the timer for the girls all day  Yikes!  I was nervous to do it, but I ended up enjoying it.  Kept me busy and focused.

Parker's in ... Guyana?

Parker left the MTC last Monday.  Unfortunately, Elder Hunt and Sister Parker had to go to Mesa, AZ because their Visa's didn't come through.
Parker with the MTC presidency.
We were able to talk with Parker on Monday morning when he flew to Trinidad.  He called that morning from SLC and then from his layover in Houston.  It was so good to talk to him! I was working when he called from Houston, but I was able to take a break and patch Travis in.  Parker was excited and a little nervous.
They made it through customs and to the Mission President's house in Trinidad.
He and Elder Buehler spent the night in a hotel near the mission home ... and then headed to Guyana on Wednesday.  We were surprised when we got a letter from the mission that he was being assigned to Guyana, but he's happy there.  I guess Suriname is having some Visa issues, so he's there until further notice.

His companion is Elder Cook from Colorado. He's loving Guyana so far.

Except for the mosquitoes!

Parker Update

Parker has now been in the MTC for 4 weeks and has 12 days to go until he flies to Trinidad.  He's doing great and is thriving in the MTC.  We are so proud of him and all the hard work he's putting in.  He's learning so much Dutch already! We're very excited for him!
 His name-tag in Dutch.
His very small district.  He's the district leader.
Sister Parker (he says she has a cool name), Elder Burr, Elder Buehler, and Elder Hunt
(He's in a trio and poor Sister Parker is a solo missionary)
Part of his zone.  There are 70 elders in his zone and 1 sister.
They speak Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish in their zone.
Already writing in Dutch the first week!
 Parker in his study perch.
Yes, he is sitting on top of his closet!
Hanging up the flag in their room.
They had an ugly tie draft and Parker got the "Dirty Bird" tie.
Parker with Eldste Hall (who tells him he wants to kill him ... all in love of course)!
Parker and Elder Osguthorp who Parker has bonded with.  He said he want to room with him when he goes to BYU.
More Dutch translating.  He's doing so awesome!
And, it wouldn't be Parker if he didn't have an injury!
We love getting his emails each week!  You can read them on his blog.  www.elderparkerburr.blogspot.com
