Pismo Beach Trip

We headed to Pismo Beach last Wednesday for several reasons.  One, to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary (yikes). Two, to get away from the backyard remodel craziness, and three, to enjoy Pismo another time this year!
We got there a little before check-in time so we headed down to the beach to do some exploring.
That night the kids did some swimming, we went out to dinner, and then Trav and I enjoyed the sunset in the hot tub.  It was a beautiful one!
Also, there was a beautiful full rainbow.  You can just barely still see it by the time I ran upstairs and came back down with my camera.
The next morning Trav and I went for a walk along the beach and explored the tide-pools.  We found lots of cool things, especially this little octopus.  He then headed off on a run and I did some walking and then we went back up for breakfast.

The kids finally got up and went down to breakfast too.  They are at such a great age where we don't have to worry about them being on their own.
After breakfast we took the kids down to the tide pools to show them all the cool things we found.  Unfortunately, the octopus was gone, but we found lots of star fish,
 and sea anemones.
We also found lots of small crabs and one giant crab that scared Calissa's sandels right off her feet!
This is the first time we've been able to explore down this far and see the tide pools.  Usually, it is under water.

After exploring on the beach, we headed up to the hot tub to soak our feet and chat.
Then, the kids wanted to go to the sand dunes to play in the sand.  We parked over at the butterfly grove and walked over to the dunes.
They have lots of cool trees to climb on.  Here is Parker.

 Calissa
Why must they tackle each other?  I guess it's a safe place to do it.  Conner looks like he's not involved, but he was!  We brought a lot of sand home with us!
Trav and I enjoyed reading our books.

Hooray for the sand dunes and for everyone getting along!
After a yummy lunch at Mo's the boys headed to the sand dunes to ride some ATV's.

 They had a great time!
Calissa and I did a little shopping in town and then walked back to our hotel on the beach.  It was a gorgeous day in Pismo!

Calissa and I enjoyed some pool time and then got showered and ready for the boys to get home.  Once they got back and showered, we headed out to dinner and then to the Melodrama.
We saw, "How the West Was Really Won." It was soooo funny!  We love going to the melodrama each time we're in Pismo.

Friday, we got up and explored the beach a little, had breakfast, did some swimming and then packed up and headed home.  Wish we could go back again this summer, but maybe we can stop by on our way home from Disneyland this Thanksgiving!
