Liberty Gymnastics Competition

Calissa participated in her 2nd gymnastics competition after her baptism on Saturday, June 19th. It was a busy day for her!Here she is right before it started. She was excited that her whole family plus Grandma and Grandpa Burr were there to watch.

We were so proud of her. She came in last on two events (Bars 8.8 and Valut 8.5) and 8th place on Beam with a 9.0. She was such a good sport and held herself together until it was over. We were proud of her. She is just barely a level 2 and a lot of the girls were more experienced than her. She improved in all her scores from last time and had fun and that is the most important thing!

Parker finished off his second year of straight A's at Sequoia Middle School. We are so proud of him! Besides getting straight A's, he also received these 4 ribbons for the 7th grade track meet.2nd place in the 800 meter in 2:47.03

2nd place in the 1600 meter in 6:32.29

3rd place in the 4 x 100 relay in 1 minute

3rd place in the triple jump for 25 feet 9 inches

He also received this $50 bill (we wish it was real) for Excellence in English.

Here is one for 7th grade GATE Science. He really had to work hard for that A each quarter!

At the 7th grade assembly he received the boys award for PE out of all the 7th grade boys.

He also received the award for Algebra.

He was one of only two 7th graders in the 8th grade Algebra class.

We are proud of him and the hard work that he puts into school.

He's an excellent example to Conner and Calissa who are following in his footsteps!

Conner's report card had all 4's (only one 3) and all Excellent behavior scores.

(Except for Sportsmanship ... we can't figure that one out. I don't think the PE teacher (who has 1000 students) knows who Conner is!)

Giants Baseball

Parker played this year on the Junior Giants. He moved up this year to a new division like Conner did and paid his dues sitting on the bench. He still played 3-4 innings each game and mostly played 2nd base, but also played short stop on occasion as well. He moved up to a MLB sized field. It's a bit of a change from the little league field that he has played on forever!

He had a tough year hitting, but did a great job in the field. He managed to get on base every once in a while through walks and a few hits. If he had more at bats, I'm sure he would have hit better!

He liked most of the boys on his team. Most of them were very supportive of him! There was drama during the season, but baseball wouldn't be baseball without drama of some sort!

Parker didn't make all-stars this year, but we were proud of the way he played and the positive attitude that he continually showed through-out the season!

Rockies Baseball

Conner was on the Major Rockies this year and had a fun season. His team finished in 2nd place and Conner played 2nd base for the season. His confidence grew over the season and he was feeling quite comfortable at the end. He made some great plays and even caught a tough fly ball in the outfield! (Which shows great growth in the out field from last year!)Conner and Nathan

He was one of only two 10-year-olds on the team. He'll be a great strength to the team next year and did his part to contribute this year. Congratulations Conner!

See Jen Run

I decided to do the See Jane Run 5K again this year. It was held on Saturday, June 5th in Alameda. It is a great event. Unfortunately, I did not train as well as last time. (I was not as dedicated this year). I got sick a few weeks before the event and didn't run for two weeks. Not the smartest move I've ever made, but I did run the week of. Last year my goal was to finish in under 30 minutes and not stop running. This year my goal was to finish!My mom came again this year along with Calissa and Parker.

I was going so fast (yeah, right) that Parker missed my front and got me from behind.

I didn't finish in under 30 minutes, but 31:04. I did stop and walk a couple of times, but I finished 174th out of 1100 or so racers and 37th out of 230 in my age group. Not too bad! I think I'm motivated to train better next year. I should be getting faster, not slower!

Parker said he would be embarrassed to get that time. I told him he could run it next year with me and beat me! He said he wasn't saying it to be mean, just that he is faster and his expectations for himself were higher. Sure Parker, sure. Just keep trying to dig out of that hole! I told Travis that he should run it next year too and the other two kids should do the mile run. Although, now that I think of it, I'm not sure it would be nice to be beat by Travis and Parker! Although, it would make a fun family day. Too bad it's always the last weekend of baseball!

The Last Hoorah!

Well, here are the pictures from the last piano recital on Friday, June 4th. I'm now done teaching piano for the upcoming future. I don't really miss it yet since I just had my final lessons on Wednesday and things are so busy. The kids all played well and I was very proud of them!

Calissa played Row, Row Your Boat and Mr. Frog is Full of Hops.

Conner played Arkansas Traveler and Galaway Piper.

Now, I just have to stay on the ball with lessons for my own three! In theory, it should be easier to find the time for their lessons. In reality it might be easier to put off!

Happy 8th Birthday Calissa!

Calissa turned 8 on Tuesday, May 25th. She was so excited to turn 8 years old! She requested home-made cinnamon rolls for her birthday breakfast. They were yummy!We always open presents in the morning before school. Here she is with her gifts. Her main gift was an orchestra level ticket to see "Wicked" again. She also got a 6 month membership to Club Penguin and some Disney Princess Diving Wands for the pool.

She loved her presents! After breakfast she went to school and enjoyed all the attention there. After school she did some homework and then played a little on the Wii. We then went out to dinner at Diggers Diner (her request). Grandma and Grandpa Romer and Uncle Drew and Christopher joined us.

She had a great day! We had her family birthday dinner at our house last night. She wanted Beef Stroganoff. Yum! Her celebration will last another several weeks until her baptism on June 19th! What an exciting time for Calissa! (Hopefully she'll pass that baptismal interview with her dad!) :)
