Summer Trip to the Burr's

We had another whirlwind trip to Utah.  Parker flew up on Sunday, July 29th to go to EFY in Provo.  Conner was at Scout Camp that same week and got home on Saturday night, August 4th.  Sunday morning we got up bright and early to drive to Utah.  We got there in time for dinner and then the fun started!
Monday, we went to Layton Surf and Swim and had a fun time swimming with the cousins.

After some fun in the sun, we went to see Kellie and the kids since they were leaving the next morning for New Hampshire.
After a quick stop off at Grandma and Grandpa's house, we packed up and headed to the Bee's Game in Salt Lake.  It was a warm night!  We had great seats and had a fun time at the game.
We got there early enough that Calissa got some autographs from the players as well as the team mascot.

It was $5 ticket night and it included a hot dog!  What a deal!! Calissa couldn't pass up the cotton candy either!  Can you tell it was blue?
During one of the later innings and line drive foul ball came screaming over at us and almost hit Chandler in the head!  I was chatting with Chan and Jen in front of us, so they weren't paying attention.  Lucky for us, Travis was and ended up with the foul ball!  (He ended up getting a coupon for a free pizza too for ending up with the ball.)  The guy sitting behind us was buying a snow cone at the time and he told Trav and I that we were lucky we didn't end up with snow cone all down our backs since he wasn't watching the ball either!

We left with it tied in the 9th to go to Neilson's Frozen Custard in Bountiful.  The Bee's ended up winning in the 10th!
Tuesday, we went to Boondocks and had a really fun day!
 We played miniature golf.
Rode the bumper boats and got soaked, rode the go karts,
went bowling, played video games and played laser tag. Some of those things we did more than once!
Jami, Jordan and Jen (I guess I should have been in the picture since I'm a "J" too)
  Parker and Jarom
 Parker feeling the love!
Kennedy, Maddie, Parker, Kaisen and Conner
 Most of the group.
Eisley and Parker getting ready to drive!
Calissa driving the little go karts.
On Wednesday, we had the Burr Olympics.
Eisley, Jarom, Conner, Logan and Kaisen
The kids decorated a visor to wear for the day.
Parker, Kylee, Calissa, Kennedy and Jami
 Azure and Maddie
 The parents were the audience.
The torch and parade coming in.  Parker ... make sure you don't catch the tree on fire!

The group competing in the games in the back yard.

Don't they have a beautiful yard?
The first event was spelling their name backwards.
The older five grandkids were each paired with a younger grandchild.

This one was pin the star on the Olympic Rings.  Calissa was a little off after Grandma spun her!
Grandma Burr telling us what the next event was.
The last event was a water balloon toss and slip and slide.  We ended up burning Grandma and Grandpa's beautiful grass!  Hope it comes back soon!

The crew with their gold medals!
After the medal ceremony, there was a pinata!  No one got hurt!
Thursday was Conner's 13th birthday!!  Grandma made him pancakes for breakfast and he got to open his presents.  He got some money from Grandma and Grandpa Burr ...
and a few books (which are not out yet) and some money from us.
After breakfast we went to Great Grandpa Romer's house to take him out to lunch.  He chose the Olive Garden.  It was great to see my Grandpa, but hard too, since my Grandma wasn't there!
After lunch, we met up with everyone at Get Air.  (Melanee called it "Get High" ... still laughing about that!)
Here is Maddie showing off her skills!
 Calissa having fun jumping.
 Conner was worn out!
After getting all worn out, we headed to a great shaved ice place, went by and saw MiQuelle and Jordan's house, and then headed back home for some yummy food, Neilson's Frozen Custard, cake AND a sleep over in Grandma and Grandpa's backyard.

When we got home from picking up the Frozen Custard, we found this "little" 4 1/2 inch bug in front of our car!  This thing was HUGE!!!

Conner was tired out and spent the night inside, instead of outside. So we, being his caring parents decided to sleep inside with him so he wouldn't feel alone!
Friday morning we got up and had breakfast and then met up with people for a hike up Adam's Canyon in Layton.  It said that the hike was easy with a few harder parts.  We were headed up to a waterfall.  I guess we should have guessed it was going to be hard just looking at the mountain in front of us!

Isn't that backyard cool?  The house was beautiful too!
Me and Jen (Yes ... Jen and Jen) hiking up the mountain!
Stopping for a picture along they way.  Azure was brave and came along with her two little ones!  They did great.  The hike was 3.5 miles round trip, but it sure felt longer than that!
MiQuelle and Melanee and Robert coming up the trail.  Trav's parents were troopers!  This was not an easy hike!

 Taking a break!
It really was a beautiful hike!  We were worried about the heat, but when we got to the trailhead, we were more worried about the lightening.  There was some rain, thunder and lightning when we were starting off, but it was during the time when the sun would have been beating down on us.  It actually felt great to get rained on a bit as we were hiking.  Once we were about 1/2 mile in or so, we were under trees the rest of the way as we followed the river up the mountain.
We found a small waterfall and wondered it that was it.  Nope ... just going to get harder from there!

After climbing some boulders and continuing on, we finally came to the big waterfall.
It was an accomplishment and all of us made it!
Here's the whole group that hiked!  Way to go!

After we got back to the cars (4 1/2 hours later) we headed for home.  We decided that we were all sore and tired and didn't want to cook, so we ordered pizza!  The next morning, after breakfast, we packed up and headed for home!  It was a quick, but fun trip!  Looking forward to our New Year's trip as well!
