Grandma and Grandpa Burr came to California to visit us during Spring Break. They drove down Tuesday night and Wednesday. Tuesday they braved snow, rain, and wind, but made it safely to Winnemucca. The next morning they hopped back into the car and drove the rest of the way to our house. Once they got here, we missed Grandma a happy birthday, unloaded their car and loaded ours and then got on the road again to Pismo Beach! It was a lot of driving for them that day, but we were excited once we got there. It was also nice to be able to catch up with them in the car on the way there. We used our tow basket for the first time and it didn't fall off the back of our car! They only problem is that a warning light came on because our blind spot detectors wouldn't work with the things on the back.
We went to Old Juan's Cantina for Grandma's birthday dinner.
Happy Birthday!
The next morning the adults got up for a walk (or a run if you're Travis) along the beach.
It was such a beautiful morning in Pismo. No fog at all. It was quite windy, but such a beautiful day!
Drew, Tina, and the kids went as well. We had fun spending some time with them while we were there too. Here is Christopher, Lindsay, and Calissa looking at the ocean.
After breakfast we went down to the beach to play for a while.
Drew and Tina's family (with Calissa) checking out the hole that they dug.
After a yummy lunch at Mo's, Uncle Drew convinced these crazies that it would be a great idea to eat a chocolate covered cricket! (Trav ate the chocolate covered worm instead). It was sooooo gross!
Here's a video Calissa took of the experience.
When we got back to the hotel, we went back down to the very windy beach.
There were several wind surfers there that day (since it was so windy). They were pretty amazing.
Uncle Drew bought a skim board and was trying to figure out how to use it. He finally asked "Siri" and got some pointers on how to use it.
Grandma, Grandpa, the boys and I enjoyed watching from the sand.
Here's Trav
and Drew trying to figure it out.
They got better, but definitely need some more work to perfect it.
Here's Calissa (getting sunburned) and Christopher playing in the sand.
That night we went to a pizza place for dinner and then went to the Melodrama. "The Mark of Morro" was the show that we saw. It was funny and had us laughing (like always). The vaudeville was a salute to the Oscar winning songs. They managed to cover or mention all 80 songs in about 25 minutes. After 3 tries Trav managed to get all of us in the picture! :)
The next morning after another beautiful walk on the beach and a swim in the pool, we said goodbye to Pismo for a while. Hopefully we'll get a chance to go back soon!
Saturday we had Mormon Helping Hands in the morning. We went to the Oak Grove library to pull out ivy from their flower beds.
Did I mention it was a lot of ivy?

Grandma and Conner in front of the project. We worked them hard that morning, but rewarded them with dinner out at Benihana. That made it all worth it! Maybe?
The next day they came with us to church and we had dinner at my parent's house that night. The next morning we all got up for school and work. They packed up, we had breakfast and family prayer, and then we all took off to our various places. Trav and I went to work, the kids to school, and Grandma and Grandpa headed back to Utah.

We're so grateful that they came out to spend time with us!
