Dodger Playoff Game

I unexpectedly got an e-mail from Tim Score (Stake President of the Concord Stake and long-time Dodger fan) saying he and a couple others were heading to L.A. for game 4 of the playoffs between the Dodgers and Braves and they had an extra ticket with my name on it.  Didn't take long to realize it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so I decided to take a day off work and go on a road trip.

It was only a couple days after getting a tooth extracted and titanium posts put in my jaw for the first step in getting two dental implants.  So, I spent a fair amount of time icing my jaw on the way down to L.A.

Once we got there, we stopped out Outback Steakhouse to get a bite to eat before heading to the stadium.  I passed on the steak since my mouth hurt and had some yummy pasta instead.

We made it to the stadium very early and got to watch a fair amount of batting practice while waiting for the game to start.  We found out on the radio on the way down that Clayton Kershaw would unexpectedly be pitching to try to close out the series for the Dodgers.  We were pretty excited about that!

So, we weren't exactly right on the field but in Dodger Stadium, there really are no bad seats and we had a nice birds-eye view of the stadium.

The Dodgers fell behind in a close game and by the bottom of the eighth, they were still down by one run.  After Yasiel Puig hit a double to start off the inning, the crowd started going crazy.  Then Juan Uribe tried to bunt twice to move Puig to 3rd base and fouled them both off!  We couldn't believe it...  Then, instead of bunting Uribe swung away and hit a 2-run homer to give the Dodgers the lead!

Here is Uribe on the big screen right after the game-winning homer.  All that was left was for Kenley Jansen to come in and get 3 outs.  He struck out the Braves without a problem and the place went ballistic.  I got a video of the last strike but couldn't get it loaded on this post because it's too long.  It was pandemonium and it's awesome I can always say I was at such an epic game.  The Dodgers won the series and then ended up losing in 6 games to the Cardinals in the next round.

Hopefully, next year they can go even farther.
