Cross Country

Cross Country season has started and we hosted the first pasta feed at our house. There are 60 kids on the team, but only about 35 of them showed up.  (I was kind of glad!)
Conner and Michael enjoying some food.
The girls table.

We have a short season this year.  Only two league meets and then the championship. The kids each ran in a pre-season race, but not the same one.  Here is Conner finishing up the JV race from the meet on Wednesday.
Calissa got moved up to Varsity for this race. She finished!
So proud of both of these kids!  Glad Conner is running again, even through he still has pain.  Calissa has battled shin splints this season, but is improving every day. Love to see them out and active!

Time Out For Women and Girls!

Last weekend Calissa and I were able to attend Time Out For Women and Girls in Sacramento with some friends. We had a great time with Miranda and April Jacobs and Teri Rossi.
Calissa was also able to meet up with her friend Kyrsten who had moved to Sacramento. Friday night we barely made it on time, but we did and had a great time! Friday night the women got to hear from Hillary Weeks and John Bytheway.  The girls got to hear from Brad Wilcox and David Archuletta.
Saturday, we heard from many different speakers and David Archuletta.  My favorite speaker was Brad Wilcox.  It was a great weekend to recharge emotionally and spiritually. However, we did not recharge sleep-wise!
Calissa and I sad that it was over.
A picture of all of us.  David Archuletta was signing autographs behind that screen. :)
An ice cream before we hit the road home!
Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

Beautiful Bonaire!

Parker has been serving on the island of Bonaire since the middle of July.  He is now the Zone Leader and got to travel to Trinidad for a Missionary Leadership Conference.
Right before that trip, the mission president and his wife visited their island and they were able to go on an island tour with them and the other two missionaries on the island.
Bonaire is known for flamingos.  They live in the wild there and have a protected habitat.
Elder Burr and Elder Lewis in front of the beautiful turquoise water!
 Gorgeous, huh?
The island is also known for it's world class diving.  This is a pretty funny sign!
He's loving his mission and doing so well!  We sure love him!

Jarom's Farewell

Travis and I were able to go to Utah to attend Jarom's missionary farewell last weekend. Travis happened to already be in town that week for a work conference and was due to fly home on Thursday night. He decided to stay and just work from his parent's house on Friday. I was able to fly up on Saturday to join him for a short weekend away.  We left the two kids at home for a couple of days by themselves and they did a great job!
On Saturday, we went to a movie (Sully) and watched the BYU vs. Utah football game.  Sunday, we drove down to Lehi for Jarom's farewell.
He is going to the Resistencia Argentina Mission and reports on the 14th.
It was fun to spend the day with family and say goodbye to Jarom.
We'll see you in two years!

Bubble Soccer Fun!

We had a lot of fun last weekend celebrating a friend's birthday.  She invited us to the park to play bubble soccer.  We had never played before, but had a fun time.
Calissa
 Conner ready to play!
Here they go! It was fun to hit people and watch them go flying.  There wasn't a ton of soccer being played, but everyone had a great time!
I took a turn too. I was a little claustrophobic getting in, but once I got playing, I was OK.
Calissa got knocked over by Brother Adams!
Trav and Calissa.  Travis was the most sore the next day ... probably because he played the hardest.  I was a little worried about his back, but he was just fine! Parker says he wants to play when he gets home.
